The project
The island is the point of the room. Its fronts are plain grey slabs with no pulls, no gola channel and no visible edge detail: they open on push-to-open hardware, so the run reads as one uninterrupted surface from end to end. The counter is white quartz, returned to the floor at the end as a marble-look waterfall.
The perimeter is treated differently, on purpose. Base cabinets in the same grey carry long bar pulls, because a working run gets opened with full hands. Wall cabinets above are a cream gloss, framed by dark espresso surrounds and open shelves.
Appliances are built in — a full-height refrigerator and double wall ovens housed in a grey tall bank — and the splash is a dark subway tile that ties the espresso framing back to the grey cabinetry.
