It is the first Niagara Region address on our list, and that is worth saying plainly: we do not yet run a standing day in the region the way we do west of Hamilton, so an appointment here is booked on its own rather than grouped with others.

- 01Grimsby Beach and the Painted Ladies
- The cottages on Auditorium Circle and Temple Lane went up from the 1870s as wood-framed replacements for canvas tents on a Methodist camp ground, and they still carry the tent lot's dimensions. Rooms are small, ceilings low, walls board rather than plaster, and no corner is square. A 2400mm tall unit will not go in, and a 600mm base run takes floor a room this size cannot spare, so the base depth usually comes down to 450mm or 500mm and the fronts stay plain. Those are the two limits we name at the measure, before anything is drawn.
- 02The settled rear additions on Main Street
- Some of the oldest houses in Grimsby sit along Main Street East and West — 19th-century brick, with the cooking end added at the back decades after the front was finished. That addition went on a shallower foundation than the original house and has settled away from it since, so the floor falls toward the back wall and the two halves no longer read as one level. Cabinetry is set level to itself, the difference is absorbed at the seam, and the counter is templated after the run is standing rather than off the floor.
- 03Vineyard properties east toward Beamsville
- Past the Grimsby line the Twenty Valley begins, and the houses on the Beamsville Bench often have a working side to them. What gets asked for is a second prep run set away from the main kitchen, cold storage held at cellar rather than fridge temperature, a long uninterrupted counter that takes glassware, and drawers deep enough for cases rather than plates. Where a room will serve the public it stops being a domestic kitchen and the specification changes with it — a conversation for the design visit, not for after the drawings are approved.

- The condominium towers on the shoreline north of the QEW are the newest rooms on this page by a century, and the brief inside them is consistent: carry a house's worth of things into a suite without the room closing in. Two of everything is a downsizing question rather than a cabinetry one. What has to be designed for is the awkward remainder — a 900mm drawer that takes the stand mixer standing up, a pull-out that holds a roasting pan flat, and shelf depth for the good glassware that came out of a Main Street dining room.

We Come to You
A design consultant arrives at your home with a case of slab door samples in super-matte, gloss, textured melamine and veneer, plus gola and finger-pull sections you can put your hand into, hinges and runners to work, edge profiles and finish boards. We walk the room together, talk through what is not working now, and hold finishes up against your own floors, counters and light.
You see every finish and opening system in the room it is meant for, with no drive and no showroom floor.

Design & Estimate
If you want to take it further, we measure the room before the consultant leaves. The drawing is done back at the studio, not at your table: a computerized design with plan, elevations and 3D views to your room's real dimensions takes a couple of days to do properly. The estimate that comes with it itemizes cabinetry, surfaces, hardware and labour, so you can see exactly where the money goes.

Production & Coordination
Once the drawings are signed off, doors, boxes and drawer fronts go into production and the countertop template is booked. Deliveries and trades are sequenced so material does not sit in your garage for six weeks waiting on something else to arrive.
You get a production schedule with the dates that affect your household marked on it.

Professional Installation
Installers protect floors and stair runs before anything comes through the door, then set and shim the frameless boxes dead level and scribe the end panels to the wall. Fronts are adjusted at the end of the install until the reveals read consistently at 3mm across the run and the gola channel lines through from one end of the kitchen to the other.
You get a swept site each evening and one point of contact for the length of the installation.

Final Inspection & Completion
We walk the finished room with you and write down anything that is not right, from a hinge that wants a quarter turn to a filler that needs trimming. Nothing is called complete until that list is empty and you have signed off on it.
You receive care instructions, spare hardware and the warranty in writing.
Working in Grimsby.
It is inside it, and there is no charge for the drive. Being further out changes the calendar rather than the service: we are in Niagara less often than we are west of Hamilton, so the first date we can offer may not be the coming week. What arrives is the same as anywhere else — the full sample case in your own kitchen, measurements if you want them, and a computerized design with a written estimate a couple of days later. No cost, and no obligation at the end of it.
The Town of Grimsby building division issues them, and cabinetry dropped into the layout you already have needs no permit. A load-bearing wall, relocated plumbing, a new bathroom or a finished lower level does. The second layer is the one to know: on the escarpment side, a Niagara Escarpment Commission development permit is a prerequisite rather than a parallel approval, and the town will not issue until it has cleared. Shoreline and creek lots can need Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority approval too. We check both during design.
More than you would think, but less than a floor plan suggests. Grimsby Beach is recognized as a cultural heritage landscape and some individual cottages are designated under the Ontario Heritage Act. Designation usually reaches the exterior, though a by-law can list interior attributes too, so we read the one for your address before the design is finalized. The real limit is physical: these are 1870s frames on tent lots, so headroom, floor area and the absence of a square corner decide the design, not the door style.
The millwork, yes — a tasting counter, glassware storage, case drawers and back-of-house cabinetry come out of the same shop as the kitchens. What we flag at the first visit is where the project stops being cabinetry. A room open to the public brings requirements a domestic kitchen does not have, and those sit with the town and the health unit rather than with us. Knowing that at the start is cheaper than finding it out once the counter is templated.
