- 01Durand and Kirkendall century homes
- Plaster over lath, walls that wander 40mm out of plumb across a single run, and original openings no stock cabinet will ever meet. Frameless cabinetry is scribed to the wall, the filler is drawn into the elevation instead of hidden, and reveals are held at a consistent 3mm — which is the whole discipline a gola run stands or falls on.
- 02Westdale's 1920s footprints
- Kitchens here are small, and many still have a butler's pantry or a rear porch that can be brought inside. A tall bank running floor to ceiling, 600mm pantry units on full-extension pull-outs and a panelled fridge usually buy back more usable storage than moving a wall would.
- 03Mountain bungalows and backsplits
- Plans from the 1950s through the 70s put a load-bearing wall between the kitchen and the dining room. Opening it means an engineered beam and a permit, so the structural work is sequenced first and the countertop — a 20mm mitred edge in most of these rooms — is templated only after the ceiling is closed and painted.

- Ten-year-old builder cabinetry is usually thermofoil on particleboard with 1/2-inch stapled backs and epoxy-coated side-mount runners. Rebuilding it as a frameless box in prefinished birch plywood, with laser-applied edgebanding, drawers rather than doors below the counter and Tip-On push-to-open fronts, changes how the room behaves every single day.

Call the Ancaster office or send a note through the site and we will find a time that suits your week, evenings and Saturdays included. Before the appointment we ask a few questions about the room, the budget range you have in mind and how the space is actually used day to day.

We Come to You
A design consultant arrives at your home with a case of slab door samples in super-matte, gloss, textured melamine and veneer, plus gola and finger-pull sections you can put your hand into, hinges and runners to work, edge profiles and finish boards. We walk the room together, talk through what is not working now, and hold finishes up against your own floors, counters and light.
You see every finish and opening system in the room it is meant for, with no drive and no showroom floor.

Design & Estimate
We take measurements if you would like us to, then prepare a computerized design with plan, elevations and 3D views drawn to your room's real dimensions. The estimate that follows itemizes cabinetry, surfaces, hardware and labour, so you can see exactly where the money goes.
You receive drawings and a detailed written estimate, free and with absolutely no obligation.

Production & Coordination
Once the drawings are signed off, doors, boxes and drawer fronts go into production and the countertop template is booked. Deliveries and trades are sequenced so material does not sit in your garage for six weeks waiting on something else to arrive.
You get a production schedule with the dates that affect your household marked on it.

Professional Installation
Installers protect floors and stair runs before anything comes through the door, then set and shim the frameless boxes dead level and scribe the end panels to the wall. Fronts are adjusted at the end of the install until the reveals read consistently at 3mm across the run and the gola channel lines through from one end of the kitchen to the other.
You get a swept site each evening and one point of contact for the length of the installation.

Final Inspection & Completion
We walk the finished room with you and write down anything that is not right, from a hinge that wants a quarter turn to a filler that needs trimming. Nothing is called complete until that list is empty and you have signed off on it.
You receive care instructions, spare hardware and the warranty in writing.

Cabinetry replaced within the existing layout does not need one. Removing or altering a load-bearing wall, relocating plumbing, changing a window opening or finishing a basement does, and those applications go through the City of Hamilton building division while electrical work is filed with the ESA. We tell you which category you are in on the first visit and prepare the drawings where a permit applies.
It is manageable with planning. Those streets are narrow with permit parking, so we reserve a spot for delivery day and carry cabinetry through the front rather than staging it on the lawn. Houses with a 32-inch front door and a tight turn at the stair get their tall units built in modules sized to make the corner.
The design and the estimate usually reach you within a week to ten days of the visit. Custom cabinetry then goes into production for several weeks once you approve the drawings and finishes; a full renovation with structural or plumbing work runs longer than that. You get a dated schedule before anything is ordered.
